On July 2, the postponed 2021 Guangdong Provincial Radio Direction Finding Championship was held in the Taosence Earth Art Park, Conghua District, Guangzhou. The event gathered 63 teams from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and other places, covering 1600 students. The event was hosted by Guangdong Provincial Social Sports and Training Competition Center, hosted by Guangzhou Conghua District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and Guangzhou Conghua District Sports Federation, and co-organized by Guangdong Provincial Sports Lottery Center, Taosence Land Art Park and Guangdong Creative Century Radio Model Youth Club. The Guangdong Provincial Radio Direction Finding Championship is an innovative scientific and technological sports event that includes the learning and application of radio technology, the production and research of direction finding electronic circuits, and the ability to decipher radio Morse codes. Since 2013, it has successfully held 9 consecutive events, and has now become a well-known brand event in Guangdong Province. The contest aims to popularize the scientific and technological sports of radio direction finding, and improve the contestants' ability of applying radio direction finding, signal capturing and decoding, direction finding and positioning, logical thinking and adaptability.

Online and offline linkage competition, youth science and technology sports popularized new ways.

Under the premise of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, this event will continue to do a good job in the popularization of scientific and technological sports activities for young people, while ensuring the safety of participants. The organizing committee innovated the mode of competition, mainly in the form of online competition, added local offline sub-venues (offline sub-venues are only for athletes in Guangzhou, and other teams participate in the form of online competition), and set up 3.5MHz close-range fixed-point measurement individual competition, 144MHz close-range fixed-point measurement individual competition, direction finder production individual competition and radio signal capture individual competition, It broke the limitation and stereotype that radio direction finding can only be played offline in the past.

The online competition is a radio signal capture individual competition. The contestants log in to the website of the competition system using computers and enter the competition answer page. Within 20 minutes, they listen to the competition audio, copy and decipher the radio signal audio one by one. After the audio listening, they complete the answer and submit it within the effective time.

The offline competition includes the individual competition of direction finder production and the individual competition of 3.5MHz/144MHz close-range fixed-point measurement. Among them, the contestants who participated in the individual course finder production competition brought their own unprocessed and produced competition equipment and independently completed the course finder production and commissioning tasks within 90 minutes. In the 3.5MHz/144MHz close-range fixed-point test individual competition, five radio stations were set up on the spot, and each station drew a circle with a radius of 1 meter as the confirmation area with the antenna as the center. The contestants blindfolded from the starting point to find the signal source in order, and finally found the MO station to reach the destination, and recorded the signal source and completion time. The competition results were ranked according to the actual number of effective stations and the speed of the time used. The competition time was 3 minutes.

Zeng Hao, the head of the Sports Section of the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Conghua District, said that this provincial radio DF championship broke through the previous form of competition, making full use of network information technology, and through the way of online and offline linkage, on the one hand, it has well complied with the needs of the current normalization management of the epidemic situation, on the other hand, it has also increased the scientific and technological elements of the radio DF competition, so that this sports event can get a broader participation and attention.

At the scene, under the guidance of teachers and coaches, the contestants started from the same starting point in batches. They held the direction finder, wore headphones, carefully captured the monitoring signals, and searched for the radio direction according to different signal directions. Every frequency modulation and every step of stepping out have witnessed the wonderful moment when teenagers are working hard in science and technology sports.

Chen from Nanguo School in Guangzhou shared his competition experience. "This competition is very different from the orienteering fox-hunting competition he participated in before. Although the venue is not large, it is still a little difficult to find the punch point only by looking at the radio signal. It is a bit like the previous hide-and-seek game, but it is more dependent on technology." He said that he came to participate in this new and interesting competition for the first time, I hope we can achieve good results in the next radio competition.

Conghua District, with beautiful environment, has outstanding ecological features of mountain forests. Among the 11 existing mountains of more than 1000 kilometers in Guangzhou, Conghua District accounts for 10.
